Abstract

This book describes the plethora of all procedures in Body Contouring. It descibes their advantages and disadvantages and provides an overview of possible complications and how to avoid and deal with them when they occur. The work explains when and why to choose one procedure instead of another or combine the treatment of different adjacent areas in one and/or different techniques to achieve more favourable results in contouring these areas. New combinations are presented on how to combine different non-invasive or minimally invasive and surgical body contouring procedures in just one surgical procedure for the benefit of the patient. The author presents an algorithm for online - interviewing patients in times of COVID to help assess which type of procedure can lead to the fewest side effects and best possible results, and which type of treatment to choose depending on BMI and extent of weight loss. These chapters will likely find an audience among plastic and bariatric surgeons.

Abstract

From hardware and materials through processing and properties, a broad coverage of blown film extrusion is presented. A primary objective of this book is to ensure a useful balance of theory and practice. The reader will find the answers to "Why?" they encounter certain effects in the blown film process so that they are better able to troubleshoot and improve their operations. At the same time, current practices and equipment are emphasized to keep readers up-to-date with the most productive and efficient technology. The companion CD-ROM, The Blown Film Extrusion Simulator, is provided to enhance the learning process. This software was developed specifically to teach blown film extrusion equipment operation and processing principles. The realistic graphic interface and intuitive operating techniques were designed to emulate actual processing methods so that learners can quickly move from the simulator to real production equipment. Throughout this book, exercises using the simulator are described to complement the methods and principles explained. Readers are encouraged to take a break from the book and spend a few minutes with the simulator to enhance their understanding of the content.

Abstract

The forming of metals through plastic deformation comprises a family of methods that produce components through the re-shaping of input stock, oftentimes with little waste. Therefore, forming is one of the most efficient and economical manufacturing process families available. A myriad of forming processes exist in this family. In conjunction with their countless existing successful applications and their relatively low energy requirements, these processes are an indispensable part of our future. However, despite the vast accumulated know-how, research challenges remain, be they related to the forming of new materials (e.g., for light-weight transportation applications), pushing the boundaries of what is doable, reducing the intermediate steps and/or scrap, or further enhancing the environmental friendliness. The purpose of this book is to collect expert views and contributions on the current state-of-the-art of plastic forming, thus highlighting contemporary challenges and offering ideas and solutions.

Abstract

"Regenerating damaged organs and tissues, an act that once was considered magic, is currently entrusted to the surgeons who have allowed us to move from replacement and reconstructive plastic surgery to regenerative plastic surgery, through autologous and allogeneic cell-based therapies and growth factors. The enthusiasm for regenerative plastic surgery and for the treatment of some pathologies addressed by it, such as breast reconstruction, hemifacial atrophy, burns, scars, and aesthetic improvements such as breast and buttock augmentation, face rejuvenation and hair regrowth, has led the author, Professor Pietro Gentile, to rigorously investigate the possible new minimally invasive strategies based on adipose-derived stem cells, human follicle stem cells and growth factors contained in platelet-rich plasma. This book reports on the latest knowledge regarding the treatment of soft and bone tissue defects. Therefore, the goal of this text is to introduce and definitively establish this new and interesting field of plastic surgery, called regenerative plastic surgery"--
